About

Krzysztof Gongor in his studio in Oslo

I'm Krzysztof Gongor. Most people call me Chris.

I was born in Poland and moved to Norway more than ten years ago. This is where I started painting, in a small studio at home in Oslo. For a long time it stayed private, something I did for myself, canvas after canvas.

After ten years, I decided it was time to show the work to the world. GONGOR ART&DESIGN is the result.

I don't want to lock myself into one style or one technique. My first series, Chapter One, already moves between them: poured paint, fast splashes, layered colour and geometric shapes. The next one will look different again. Every chapter is a chance to try something new. What connects them is what I want them to bring into a room: calm, character and a bit of energy.

Much of that comes from outside. I spend as much time as I can in Norwegian nature, in the mountains, by the fjords, in the quiet and the changing light. A lot of the colours and movement in my paintings start there.

I'm also a photographer. The camera and the canvas feed each other: one teaches me to see, the other lets me rebuild what I saw in my own way.

I'm restless by nature. Always moving, always full of ideas. Painting is where those ideas slow down and become something you can live with on your wall.

The KG in the corner of every painting is me.

Painted in Oslo.
